12 Major Book Adaptations Coming This Fall
As the “mother” of Book Pix, I know I shouldn’t have a favorite section. I should love them all equally! But I do have a favorite: “Page to Screen,” where each Tuesday we highlight a book adaptation coming out that week. (Please don’t tell “Bookmarks,” “Bookworld,” or any of the other sections…)
That favoritism is exactly why today's Worth the Read is a rundown of 12 major book-to-screen adaptations coming in September and October. I'm kind of blown away by how many good ones are on the horizon, and you might be surprised to learn that the very last adaptation on this list is the one I'm most excited about.
My biggest takeaways: The theater is still the place to be for a great adaptation, Prime Video is stepping up its game, and apparently we all need to sign up for MGM+? A streaming service I didn't even know existed before today?
As for why I love this topic so much in the first place: I've always loved watching how different people interpret the same characters and stories. In fact, if you want my full thoughts on the adaptation industry, check out this edition of Worth the Read from May. But spoiler alert: I'm a big fan! Of course, I love when adaptations are great, but even when they're disappointing, I enjoy the hype and the boost they give the books.

I’m actually quite excited to see Kit Harington lead this fresh adaptation of Charles Dickens’s classic about two very different men whose lives become tangled in love, sacrifice, and revolution. Too many of us have Dickens’s work ruined by being forced to read it in school before we can appreciate just how funny, juicy, and cliffhanger-y his stories actually are! Perhaps Harington is the man to change that…
