Hi, {{first_name | friend}}!

4 podcasts that feel like eavesdropping

I’m nosy, but I’d like to think it comes from a good place. I’ve always been fascinated by human behavior: why we do the things we do, why two people can experience the exact same situation completely differently, and what people are really thinking beneath the version of themselves they present to everyone else.

I even minored in psychology, which probably explains a lot about my fascination with reality TV. Give me a complicated relationship dynamic, a questionable decision, or two people arguing over something that's clearly not what they’re actually arguing about, and I’m locked in.

It’s probably also why I love podcasts so much. Audio has an intimacy you just don’t get from most other forms of entertainment. You’re literally putting someone’s voice directly into your ears, often while they tell you something they may struggle to say out loud anywhere else.

That’s the common thread in these four listens: vulnerability is the star. We’re talking real therapy sessions, sexual escapades, heartbreak, grief, death, marriage, divorce, and the thoughts most of us would probably reserve for our closest friends, if we admitted them at all.

Yes, they absolutely satisfy my desire to know other people’s business. But the best ones do something else too: somewhere in all that oversharing, you inevitably hear a little bit of yourself.
