Hi, {{first_name | friend}}!
5 hidden gem romances with cozy fall vibes
A couple of weeks ago, I shared 5 hidden gems with cozy fall vibes, spanning murder mysteries, family dramas, comedy, and romance. Y’all showed that list a lot of love, so I’m back with Part 2: the romance edition.
And we’re not talking five interchangeable rom-coms with a leafy backdrop. We’ve got enemies-to-lovers tension, supernatural twists, literary yearning, a modern fairy tale, and one movie that may emotionally destroy you. In other words, a little something for every romantic this cozy season.
Plus, for those of you following along on my Dancing with the Stars Season 35 journey, I’m sharing every thought I had during Week 2 ahead of tonight’s new episode!
Hidden gem romance: a cozy fall watchlist
If you want enemies-to-lovers tension:
My Lady Jane
Streaming on Prime Video
A radical retelling of English royal history, in which King Henry VIII’s son Edward doesn’t die of tuberculosis, Lady Jane Grey isn’t beheaded, and neither is her charming husband, Guildford.
Emily Bader (People We Meet on Vacation) stars as Lady Jane opposite Edward Bluemel as Guildford. They're forced to marry, and their enemies-to-lovers chemistry is off the charts, with all the banter, tension, and yearning you could ask for. And then there’s the completely unhinged magical realism of it all that I won’t spoil, but makes for a perfect cozy season watch in the lead-up to Halloween (no, you won’t be scared). The show fully commits to its own ridiculousness, which is exactly what makes it so charming.
Autumn credentials: English castles and countryside, candlelit rooms, horseback rides, sumptuous period costumes, and plenty of cloaks. Add in a little magic and a whole lot of yearning, and it practically begs to be watched with a hot apple cider.
