David’s 5 Picks
Best feel-good movie you’ve watched recently?
Maybe it’s not technically feel-good, but The Devil Wears Prada is one of my favorites. Can’t wait for the comeback of Meryl as Miranda Priestly.
Best TV show you’ve watched recently?
The Night Agent. Gabriel Basso is great, and each season builds on itself. And I heard the next season takes place in my hometown of LA!
A 5-star-worthy book you’d recommend to anyone?
I listen to my books. Barry Diller’s memoir was my last (and a great guest on our podcast, The Person Who Believed in Me). His Old Hollywood stories are unmatched.
A hidden gem you wish more people knew about?
Puerto Rico, the history, the music, the people. All of it.
Podcast on your weekly rotation?
Diary of a CEO with Steven Bartlett.

Pix: The Do Good Crew newsletter celebrates everyday people doing extraordinary things. Is there a story that has stuck with you the most since covering it?
DB: I took a trip to Malawi last year to witness the distribution of cash directly to people living in extreme poverty. Canva gave $100 million to the organization GiveDirectly so that they could distribute funds to people in Malawi who make less than $2 a day. Seeing the impact of small amounts of money given directly to people, allowing them to make the best choices for themselves, was eye-opening.
Pix: The Do Good Crew encourages practicing gratitude in real, tangible ways. What’s your advice for people who want to be more intentional about that, but don’t know where to start?
DB: Instead of just thinking “I’m grateful,” try to name one concrete thing each day and why it matters - even something ordinary like a conversation, a meal, or a quiet moment. The “why” is what turns it into something real.
It also helps to express it outwardly. Send a quick text, a short note, or say it directly to someone. Gratitude tends to stick more when it’s shared rather than kept in your head.
