From Ink to Anime

Dreamland

After his mother dies in a fire, Terrence shuts down emotionally, walling himself off from feeling anything until his nightmares finally push him into Dreamland, a world built from every dream and nightmare humanity has ever had. Dreamland caught our attention because it's a French-language production landing on Crunchyroll, drawing Wakfu comparisons from fans.

Oldie But Goldie

In a recent edition of Worth the Watch, we covered the best hidden gems streaming on Netflix—including an anime classic that everyone needs to watch at least (or maybe only) once.

Grave of the Fireflies

In the final months of World War II, a teenage boy and his young sister are left to survive on their own after American firebombing kills their mother and separates them from their family.

It’s hard to recommend this movie in the way you recommend something you really enjoyed, because it’s so incredibly sad. I don’t think anyone enjoys watching Grave of the Fireflies, but it’s a phenomenal true story that will stick with you for the rest of your life. The movie is a devastating meditation on the cost of war, connecting to an aspect of the human condition that a live-action film never could.

Grab a box of tissues, get your emotional support dog/cat/snack/blanket ready, and check this must-see anime off your bucket list.
