Hi, {{first_name | friend}}!
Happy November! Halloween candy is officially breakfast, holiday baking season is already underway, and apparently we're drinking our pumpkin spice lattes straight out of the pumpkin now. This week, we've got celebrities heading into the kitchen, some questionable breakfast collaborations, and a potato salad worth making long after picnic season. Dig in!

Celebs in the Kitchen
→ Awkwafina is hitting the road in Awkwafina: The Unlikely Cook, premiering November 6 on Apple TV. The actor and comedian, whose family has deep roots in the restaurant business, is setting out in an attempt to revive her family's Chinese restaurant. There's just one small complication: She doesn't actually know how to cook.
→ Drew Barrymore is hosting the return of the Pillsbury Bake-Off Classic, airing November 23 on CBS. In a full-circle moment, one of Barrymore's earliest acting gigs was a 1979 commercial alongside the Pillsbury Doughboy. Nearly five decades later, they're reuniting to crown the competition's 54th champion, proving that some Hollywood relationships really do last.
→ Derry Girls favorite Siobhán McSweeney is taking over The Guardian's Comfort Eating podcast, with new episodes beginning November 11. In a recent interview, she shared her preferred snack combination: cheese-and-onion crisps, Dairy Milk chocolate, and Guinness, all consumed together. We wouldn't dare question Sister Michael, but we might need a minute with that one.
Not Your Average Potato Salad
Potato salad gets a Spanish upgrade in Ryan Bartlow and Laurie Woolever's new cookbook, Essentially Basque. Their version, inspired by the pintxos bars of San Sebastián, folds rich tuna belly, capers, and sherry vinegar into tender potatoes, then finishes with pickled peppers and crunchy picos. Consider this your permission to eat potato salad well past Labor Day.
Weird on the Menu
Liquid Death Is Coming for Breakfast
Pop-Tarts and Liquid Death have reunited for a collaboration nobody asked for, but everyone will probably try. The new Squeezed to Death Frosted Orange Pop-Tarts, arriving in November, are inspired by the beverage company's orange-flavored sparkling water. The brands also created an alarm clock that wakes you with screaming, dental drills, and car horns. Suddenly, skipping breakfast sounds appealing.
A Pumpkin Spice Latte With Its Own Pumpkin
One Queens coffee shop has decided that pumpkin-flavored coffee isn't quite pumpkin enough. The Coffee Lab in Astoria is serving seasonal lattes inside actual hollowed-out pumpkins, including a $15 Pumpkin Biscoff Latte crowned with whipped cream and a cookie. The shop has reportedly gone through hundreds of pumpkins, and the drinks are expected to stick around well into November. We're curious about the coffee, but even more curious about the cleanup.

The New Queen of Thanksgiving
The woman who made cavatappi a Thanksgiving essential is taking her recipes from TikTok to the bookshelf. Tini Younger's Today We Are Cooking, out November 3, promises more than 100 recipes, including her famous mac ‘n’ cheese. Just in time for everyone to start arguing about who makes the best Thanksgiving sides.
Reel Meals Revealed
The Grand Budapest Hotel! Those pastel-colored courtesans au chocolat from Mendl's bakery look almost too pretty to eat, but they're also surprisingly effective at smuggling prison escape tools. Director Wes Anderson even released a step-by-step recipe so you can make your own. No jailbreak required.
