Hi, {{first_name | friend}}!

TGIF. Whether you’re enjoying a Summer Friday or grinding until 5 pm, we’ve got the entertainment queued up for whatever downtime comes your way this weekend. It’s a mixed bag of romance, horror, and horrifying romances.

Speaking of, if you’ve been enjoying the internet’s unhinged reactions to the Wicker trailer, Genevieve found sentient object erotica that rivals any woven extremity. You gotta read her Worth the Read to believe it.

For something more wholesome, John’s movie club review of Song Sung Blue dropped today—and he makes a shocking confession that left me with many follow-up questions.

The Biggest Premieres of the Weekend

As I said, this week’s lineup has been a mixed bag of horror, romance, and horrifying romances. And the weekend premieres are no exception, including a new rom-com that somehow checks off all 3 boxes.

The Last House

Now streaming on Netflix

Inexplicable forces trap a family of four inside their home, and as food, water, and other essentials begin to run out, they must figure out how to survive—and outsmart whatever is keeping them in there. With Greta Lee and Wagner Moura starring, this is a must-watch if you can stand the spooks.

One Night Only

Now playing in theaters

The filmmaker behind Easy A returns, but the premise of his new rom-com is a head scratcher. In a fictionalized NYC, sex between singles is banned, and, in a Purge-esque reprieve, they're allowed to hook up on one night of the year. I mainly want to see this to understand: a) why premarital sex has been banned, b) how exactly the government is enforcing said ban.

Sun, heat, saltwater and chlorine can leave skin feeling tight, dull and depleted—especially after 40, when recovery takes longer. Adamia Therapeutic Repair Lotion goes beyond aloe with pure Australian macadamia oil to help restore the moisture barrier for softer, more resilient-looking skin.

The Reviews Are In

See what critics have to say about this week's premieres, which range from meh to downright WTF.

“If this is what it takes to get a rom-com greenlit these days, maybe we should just let them die.”
