Hi, {{first_name | friend}}!

It's a particularly fun time to be a fan of anime and manga. Spring releases are still going strong, summer's biggest titles are being revealed, and the manga release calendar refuses to take a breath. We pulled together the picks that are actually worth your time. Let's get into it.

Next Up: New Anime Premiering Soon

Two very different picks this month: a superhero series with deep anime influences and a passion project made by a single artist. Both deserve your attention.

My Adventures with Superman

Season 3 streaming June 13 on HBO Max

Cyborg Superman has come for Clark Kent (Jack Quaid), and he's not coming alone. Season 3 brings Darren Criss in as Superboy and ramps up the shōnen-influenced action that's made Adult Swim's animated DC series a fan favorite and a fresh new take on the Man of Steel.

Jinsei

In theaters June 12

Newcomer Ryuya Suzuki wrote, directed, edited, and hand-drew every frame of this indie anime film over 18 months. Rapper ACE COOL voices a hero who lives a century-long life as a J-pop idol, outcast, leader, and oracle. Underneath the surrealism is a story about identity and the cost of fame.

When a phantom hacker known only as the Puppet Master begins stripping victims of their memories, Major Motoko Kusanagi takes on the case. Science SARU takes Shirow Masamune's 1989 manga back to its roots in this new series, premiering July 7 on Prime Video.

Manga Corner

Underappreciated Gem
