Hi, {{first_name | friend}}!

Hope everyone had a happy and healthy Fourth of July. In New York, we learned that yes, it can somehow get even hotter, and also that it can rain straight through the fireworks, so the family ran the full emotional gauntlet this weekend.

Here is the other thing we learned: When it is pouring out and the kids and nephews drift off to their devices (we try to limit the screens, we really do, but oof), a certain wing of the family starts explaining to everyone exactly what this summer of Bravo TV means. We lose about a quarter of the room (some people just can't see the bigger picture). Such is the life of a reality fan in a large and highly opinionated extended family.

So let me set the stage. We are about a third of the way through summer, there is a mountain of good TV right now (shoutout to Worth the Watch), and there is a genuinely stunning amount of reality on Bravo. Real Housewives of Orange County is back. Real Housewives of Rhode Island, which is surprisingly good, just wrapped. Below Deck Med (a franchise that never quite gets the credit it is due), Next Gen NYC (I'm old), and The Valley are airing now. And Summer House just wrapped a reunion that broke out well past the usual fandom, not quite Scandoval, but out there. Keeping up with all of it is, to put it plainly, a lot.

Of course, there is a podcast for that. Watch What Crappens is how you keep the entire Bravo-verse, and the orbit around it, straight in your head. Like any great recap show, it works whether or not you have seen the episode: if you watched, it is a sharp and detailed second look, and if you did not, it is how you keep up anyway, in the company of two hosts who have built one of the most loyal followings in podcasting.

There is one more thing I want to get into on the other side of this, about what a show like this can do precisely because it does not answer to a network. Speaking from experience, that freedom is the whole game.

The deep dive

The recommendations are just getting started.
